Time for the third installment of our LIVE! from Trekky House video series. Every Sunday the director of these videos, Jon Mackey, delivers a new episode to us and every time we are thrilled with the product. We hope you like them, too! This week's video is a haunting yet pleasantly jovial performance of "The Barn Dance" by Vibrant Green, live from the darkness of the attic of Trekky House. Vibrant Green is led by Stephen Tunnell and filled out by his two younger brothers, Jonny and Joah. This song is actually about Joah, which is great!

Video: LIVE! from Trekky House: Barghest
Here we are with the second episode of our new video series, LIVE! from Trekky House. As you might have guessed, the series involves the artists of Trekky Records playing live at the home of Trekky Records. Last week we heard from Lost in the Trees and the response was wonderful. Now we present to you: Barghest. The band is fronted/led/masterminded by one Jesse Ainslie, who is also a member of Castanets. The song he plays in the video is called "There Is No Hiding" and it is an acoustic version of the song that will be appearing on Barghest's upcoming LP. Enjoy!

Video: Jesse Ainslie (Barghest) in Castanets' Tendrils Film
We told you a few weeks back about the upcoming release of the Castanets Film, titled Tendrils. Well, its out now so go pick up a copy. The DVD features friends of Castanets re-interpreting the songs of Castanets. Our very own Jesse Ainslie of Barghest is a frequent member of the band so its no surprise that he is featured in the film. Pitchfork.tv, a wonderful new internet music video channel, is streaming the film this week, so check out our boy Jesse singing "Three Months Paid" and telling a dirty joke.

Adopt A Highway #2!
The Trekky Mafia loves Carrboro, North Carolina, and we thought the best way to show it would be to clean up the streets! We adopted North Greensboro St. in the heart of Carrboro, and every few months we are charged with the responsibility of picking up people's bottles, cans, plastic wrappers, cigarettes and other random refuse. Its actually a good bit of fun, and we highly recommend that you get involved with yr local Adopt A Highway program.
We started out near Weaver Street Market on a beautiful, sunny April morning:

About 20 minutes later, the heavens opened up and poured gallons and gallons of water on us, and that pretty much continued for the next couple hours. It was great! Here's how we looked afterwards:

Wet Zoo

Our dear friends Annuals and Sunfold just released a brand new split EP called "Wet Zoo," and I must say it's pretty amazing (as expected). They're both wonderful bands and people, and they consistently put out great songs. Also worth mentioning that Lost in the Trees/Auxiliary House's Neel-Gopal Sharma contributed viola tracks and our main man Ian Schreier (The Never, Lost in the Trees, Endless Mic producer) has production, engineering, and mixing credits on the disc. So yeah...it's a big 'ol friend party! Definitely head down to the record store and check it out.

"The All New Super Exclusive Al Gore Bongwater Club Mixtape Volume One"

Endless Mic and Trekky Records are proud to announce the release of the "All New Super Exclusive Al Gore Bongwater Mixtape Volume One." The mixtape reflects some material the boys found time to record during their hectic schedules supporting their most recent release, "Baby Geniuses." Written and recorded over the course of a month, much of the mixtape features first-take verses, spontaneously composed during late night recording sessions. Listeners may recognize re-imaginings of beats from the likes of Daft Punk, Missy Elliot, Pink Floyd, 50 Cent, and others. "Al Gore Bongwater Club" also includes contributions from Geechi Suede of Camp Lo and FreeBass 808 (AKA the Apple Juice Kid), on a remix of "Brother" by Endless Mic's hometown friends Annuals.
The mixtape, as a musical format, has always been a liberating medium, freeing up the artists from the constructs of standard LPs. The format is also a way to reach listeners and fans more directly. For that reason, "The All New Super Exclusive Al Gore Bongwater Club Mixtape Volume One" is available for download here right now, for free.

Trekky Records Endorses Barack Obama

Obama meets with Trekky Management in the meadow behind their house in Chapel Hill.
After months of intense deliberation, and visits from presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards and (Google) Ron Paul, Trekky Records has decided to endorse Senator Barack Hussein Obama for President of the USA. The much sought after Trekky endorsement generally ripples out into a 3 or 4 point jump in the polls, so we hope to see Obama's numbers increase in the coming weeks.
